Introduction

Backlog is a free, personal project by crtyx (crtyx.io). This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our service.

Account Information: Username, email address, and a bcrypted password
Backlog Items: The items you add to your backlog (movies, TV shows, games, books) including titles, thumbnails, status, notes, and ratings

We do not collect, store, or harvest any additional personal data. We do not use tracking cookies, analytics services, or any third-party data collection tools beyond what is necessary for the service to function.

How We Use Your Data

Your data is used solely to provide the Backlog service:

To authenticate your account and keep you logged in
To store and display your backlog items
To allow you to manage your collection

We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties. We do not use your data for advertising or marketing purposes.

External APIs

Backlog utilises free APIs from the following services to provide search functionality:

TMDB (The Movie Database): For movies and TV show information
RAWG: For video game information
Google Books: For book information
Open Library: For book information

When you search for items, your search queries are sent to these APIs. We do not store your search queries. Please refer to each service's privacy policy for how they handle data.

Data Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your data:

Passwords are hashed using bcrypt before storage
Authentication uses secure JWT tokens
Data is stored in a secure database

However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your Rights

Under UK data protection laws, you have the right to:

Access your personal data
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your account and data
Object to processing of your data

To exercise these rights, please contact us or delete your account through the app settings.

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete all associated data from our database.
